Hi
I m from Canada, just brought my Chromecast and setup to use on my TV in main living room. I can watch on-line video from Chrome browser using chrome extension add-in to stream my desktop to the TV. But my desktop is in another room. Is there a way i can stream my Samsung Note 2 (android) to the TV like i do from my desktop so that i don't need to get up and walk to my PC?
thx.

Chromecast App is just a basic controller for the Chromecast - for initial set-up, prompt a reboot etc. It doesn't have to be installed to stream stuff from a device and/or use the device as a controller

Youtube, Play Music, Play Movies, Netflix and many others all have casting ability from phone app.

Chrome Beta for Android allows you to stream some online video (cast icon appears once you have the video in full screen in Chrome Beta). This is a experimental feature but has worked well for me so far.

BubbleUPNP is a very versatile app - can also stream online video (share from Browser to Bubble), as-well as video from SMB shares (share from SMB enabled File manager), DLNA media server etc. Not the most intuitive app though and doesn't use the standard Chromecast interface used by 99% of other apps.

Allcast/Localcast and others are all options for streaming media saved in the phones local storage.

Plex is a good option if you wanting to cast a lot of media stored on the computer - but it requires you to set up a Plex Media Server on the computer.

Videostream Chrome extension (on the PC) along with the Videostream app is another option which may be simpler - (haven't tried this yet)

There are lots of other ways - Cast Store App is a great way to identify Chromecast compatible apps - currently list 196 apps and 36 games, with a useful Dev's and User's choice section which highlights the main players.

Thanks for your answer/suggestions. I am now using the Chromecast beta version to stream my desktop to the TV through the Chrome browser. So far, we haven't have much issue and it work out just want we want.
