My Nexus 6 is making my locally stored .mp3 files stutter during playback when the screen is off.

Hi all,

I currently have several GB of .mp3 podcasts that I listen to via Pocket Casts. When my Nexus 6's screen is turned off (either by timeout or by locking the phone) the audio will start to stutter and distort. Is there a fix for this? I've tried searching everywhere and I can't seem to find anything more recent than 2012.

Nexus 6, T-Mobile, running Android 5.1.1 (no root, stock OS).

I had the same issue but the cause for me were the wireless head phones. Once I switch the brand of head phones, problem went away.

This happens with earbuds plugged into the headphone jack as well as when the audio is playing over the speakers.
