My Note 5 will note communicate with the starlink app I need to fly my drone.

When I connect my note 5 to the starlink app in will not communicate with the drone. It is connected with a cable. It appears that the phone thinks this cable is recharging the battery and does not communicate with the drone. The website for the drone says my phone is compatible.
