My One Killed Itself Yesterday

So, mid-day yesterday, I sent a message to a friend of mine. Put the phone in my pocket, and went about my day running errands. About 645 last night, I pull my phone out of my pocket to send another message, and nothing. No power, no charge recognition, nothing....

I went to the store, they couldn't do anything for me and told me to go to the repair center tomorrow (Sunday) since it was closed already for the night. I activated an old phone I had for the time being, and today while in the service center, they couldn't get it booted up at all either, hard reset, or otherwise.

So, as I'm in the center, another lady walks in with a One, same problem happened to her yesterday, and about 10 minutes later, another person walks in with another One-X with the same problem... go figure 3 HTC's that decided to brick themselves yesterday.

Anyone else seen anything like this?

HA HA HA.. you are at a service center. Its not like people are going to walk in and go "Hey guys, my phone is working just fine, have a good day" Id expect a few people to walk in with a purple tint, no power, broken screen, wifi doesnt work or any other number of issues that could go wrong.
Kinda like going to a tire shop and saying, wow that guy has a flat tire too, what are the chances.. dang so does that guy.. crazy..

Take the One X out of the picture too, it doesnt belong in this equation, Sure its made by HTC but its the previous years model so that has nothing to do with anything One related.

How long did you try to charge your device?
If your battery is completely dead it might take 5-15 minutes for your device to do anything. The battery has to be brought back to life. Li-Ion batteries do not like to be over heated and they also dont play well with to low of a voltage.

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday... Rogers said it would take up to 3 weeks to fix so I'm stuck with an old phone for now

Maybe you did not treat him well and it committed suicide ???

Hahaha,

Well, the fact that 3 HTC phones bricked themselves on the same day was pretty ironic, and the guy was saying that he rarely sees phones that wont power up at all or with a hard reset. Also, battery was at well over 70%, but I had it on the charger for a few hours after I noticed it's demise with no luck.

As far as damage, the phone was barely a month old with not a scratch on it. I had it replaced right before thanksgiving due to my original one giving me a consistent "no sim card" error. Anyways, I got the new one right there on the spot, and now I have something beyond the purple tint, it looks like purple tiger stripes randomly scattered on the screen, but better than the entire screen being purple!

At least you got one on the spot, I had mine for less than a month but it was over Rogers 15 days policy so they have to send it to HTC for repairs unfortunately

Suicide isn't funny but.

True, but it can also be noticed that most things we find funny at some level cause us to be uncomfortable. Heard it discussed that in many cases it is a pillar of us thinking something is "lol"
