When placing a call, instead of hearing ringback, I hear nothing. someone answers, I hear nothing. I say something, you guessed it, the other end hears nothing!
but here's where my phones alcoholism takes play..

if a phonecall takes place in speakerphone, the other end can hear me perfectly. And, likewise, I can hear them. Yes, I know that I hear them becase it uses the phones rear speaker.
Also, I connected headphones (well, my car's aux cable. same thing though right? ok maybe not) and again, i could hear them and they could hear me. This time, though, I engaged a test of sorts. Looking like a completely normal, sane man, I yelled ahhhh into the microphone continuously and pulled the aux cable out and the other party could still hear me yelling until I ran out of breath. I'm sure that it doesn't "think" the headphones are always pluggd in as I'd see the beats logo in the status bar, which I don't, and, i couldnt hear the nice little tones as I alter the volume, which I do.

Anybody have the same issue? share your thoughts if so, any input at all would be helpful. thanks in advance

This almost sounds like a hardware issue. Especially if you have been using the headphone's jack. I've heard of these acting up over time and causing problems with speaker, mic, etc...

Probably the next question I could ask is have you attempted a factory reset after first exhausting all other possibilities? At least then after the factory reset you can rule out a software issue if it still continues.

yep, that was actually the first thing i did and still no luck. **update** though, after contacting the seller the decided to tell me NOW that he had taken it apart. so, trying to fix his mistakes, my girlfriend and I reopened it and.. lets just say the previous owner was not entirely the best person to go to for a repair. the headset speaker was placed upside down, screws were missing, metal connectors were covered, hence, no connection to the respective recievers. now it seems my only issue now is the primary microphone, located at the bottom of the device. I realized that when I place a call on speaker, the recieving end heard me because the phone was using the secondary microphone (the one under the camera) for the calls. found this out at going on 1 a.m. so, imagine my bittersweet excitement getting the headset to work but the mic is still screwed up. And, to find this out means my phone was already put back together, as the device can't place a call without an antenna (which is built into the outer housing)

So, after school, since today is my day off from work, I'll be reopening this bad lad up and check out the microphone and post the trial/error I may or may not encounter in hopes that this will somehow help another person out.

I'm not too mad though, as I only paid $130 for it on craigslist. The nice young hobo-esque gentleman kindly reduced the price due to the device having "just the volume down button stuck" which we also fixed. So, $130 for a high-end device in need of a little FREE tlc and know-how is not too bad for me.
