I love the phone but wifi stinks. I get an exclamation point on my phone in rooms I would have no problem getting wifi on my huawei mate 9( I just received the latest update which was supposed to fix the wifi and it still hasn't). Are other people having the wifi issues?

My only other issue would be the screen protector situation.

Yes have the same problem. Drops wifi too easily.

I can watch a video on an older phone while the s8+ looks for wifi. Toggling smart network switch helped with that, but I've noticed my data is being used up faster than usual as the phone drops wifi and switches to cellular.

Heyyy!!! I am coming from a Mate 9 also! I don't have a problem with WiFi, I live in a mountain area and have to use WiFi. I did not have WiFi calling with the Mate, so having it now is awesome!

You might look at an app like Wifi Analyzer as it will track strength as you move around. I have no problems with either 2.4 or 5 but I have a fairly high end router.

There is really no screen protector situation as there are very good shields available, as well as case-friendly models.

I just installed the iq liquid shield and it's actually really nice. I prefer tempered glass for the smoothness when touching the screen but this protects the screen well and actually is case friendly with my OtterBox defender. Got the 2 pack from Amazon for 11 and change with over night prome shipping.

I can walk to my driveway and stay connected to my Google WiFi router without issue (it's in the back of the house).

I have noticed that my wifi seems weaker on my phone from the front of my house. My router is situated 2.5 flights up, but is in a front room in the house. Most of my other devices work just fine in that area.

Same here! I did until this latest update. I updated yesterday and all night I had no problems with wifi. Coincidence? Maybe.
