I used to store all my phone's music and files on my pendrive. Recently I wanted to transfer a few photos from my phone to a PC. The PC showed the message like "The drive had to be formatted" so I had no choice but to format it. Then I tried plugging in my pendrive into my mobile(moto x 2nd gen) it doesn't even detect it. But it works fine on my PC.

Plug it back into the PC, locate it in Computer and right-click it, select Properties. What does it say for file system?

If it says NTFS, it is incompatible with Android.

Regardless, if you formatted the disk anything that was on it is gone now.

I have already made sure that it is FAT32. I just want to be able to use my pendrive on my mobile as I don't have a slot for a memory card and I have back up on my hdd for everything.

First rule of thumb.... when in doubt, reboot....

Did you reboot your device?

Well I did. The problem persists

I don't have my drive with me to look at, but if memory serves me correctly (50-50 on that).... I thought you could go into the Settings > Storage when it's plugged in and have the smartphone format your device. Back in the day that was usually the most reliable way of doing this.

Well, the pendrive is not being detected on my phone. So I can't so that. I could've done that if it was detected. It doesn't show any sign of a pendrive being inserted into the smartphone.

Hey guys thanks for all your suggestions. But I got the problem fixed. The Motorola customer care guy told me to Change my OTG cable and I did it and it works.
