My phone has too many issues to make a decent thread title.

For the past 2-3 months, my phone has been experiencing the following issues. Unfortunatly, I can't pin down the exact ROM version flashed before it started behaving this way.

My general setup is an IHO rom. I've tried them all, including Harmonia 2.0, which is what I am currently running.

I use a pattern lock, and I'd say about 60% of the time, once I enter my pattern, the phone freezes. It's like it thinks I haven't taken my finger off the screen yet, and is unresponsive. Sometimes it will wake back up if I button mash, and sometimes I have to pull the battery. This has happened across MULTIPLE rom's.

Random freezes all over. Launcher freezes and I get a Force Close / Wait dialog box that pops up after it's done being frozen. Same happens randomly with other apps, especially my messaging app (GoSMS). It also freezes when I'm typing in any app sometimes (with any keyboard.)

Not to mention, my MMS hasn't worked since I tried going back to 2.2 via Harmonia 1.7.

I've tried doing away with my over-clock, it didn't help.

Tried full wipe / re-flash many times, it has never helped.

I went back to stock to re-activate and hopefully cure my MMS (which it didn't, I can send but not receive), and I almost wanted to just stick with that because I wasn't experiencing problems for the little while I had it on there.

Any thoughts? Could it be some sort of hardware issue maybe?

Please list the exact steps you take when you do a "full wipe."

Formatting the system and data partitions should completely reset MMS.

My wife's phone used to freeze almost every time she would unlock it. I bought us both larger memory cards and once we replaced her's it fixed her freezing issue. Might want to try a different memory card to see if it helps

I put IHO on a new screen (hitachi?) optimus V and it would NOT play nice. the same rom worked perfectly on my first gen OV.

my friends new screen OV refuses, absolutely refuses, to run gingerbread under any circumstances.

only the stock rom works ok.

and yes, its the same issues you described.

I have no idea what it was, ive never seen it before, but it would not play nice with the OV I was trying to install it on.

if i had never seen this problem myself, my first reaction would be to tell you to do a full wipe, but having experienced this first hand, I dont know what to tell you. as it stumped me as well. we went back to froyo

I just installed BACKside-IHO on a new OV I bought my sister for xmas. Had no issues whatsover. ;)

Did you check md5sums of all files? Did you format everything? Did you restore any data?

I am willing to help anyone who will list the exact steps they have taken to a) get where they are now, and b) attempt to troubleshoot/fix the issue.

Thanks everybody. Sorry for the slow reply.

When I flash roms, I copy my GOSMS backup and my pictures folder to my PC and format the SD card using the Windows default settings.

I then copy the rom zip file, the gosms backup, and the pictures back to my SD card. Reboot into recovery, choose "wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache" in that order, then flash the new rom.

I have also tried formatting /data, /cache, and /system when flashing but my understanding is that it is the same thing as using the "wipe data/factory reset" option. Oh, using Clockwork Recovery.

It is not a new OV, purchased back in February of last year.

Next time do this. Manually wipe everything via the mounts and storage menu. system, boot, cache, data, sd-ext. DONOT do the sd-card or you will facepalm. Then do a wipe data/factory reset. Wipe cache partition, then go to advanced and wipe dalvik.

Flash your rom. Since you wiped the boot it will take a little longer than usual to reboot but it will boot up. When Im having issues with roms not installing properly I will do this very process and 99.3% of the time it solves the problem.

Alrighty, I will try that and report back. Thanks for the advice.

My only other question in the meantime is, are there any logs or anything I can look at and try to find what exactly is going wrong?

Yeah, about 75% of the time, when i wake the phone up and try putting in my pattern, the phone freezes somewhere in the pattern and I have to wait and try again.
It's been doing this for a few months.
I've been on backside since it came out, never tried any other IHO Rom until i tried Harmonia this morning. Im still running Harmonia and I havent noticed ANY changes on how my phone acts. Still does the same stupid thing with the pattern too.

I had the same exact issues as you for a while. Found out my SD card was corrupt because I tried putting it into other devices and it would be unrecognizable sometimes and other general issues. Bought a new one and now everything's perfect.

I am fairly careless when it comes to taking care of my SD card. I remove it at improper times and it is swapped between devices fairly often. I think i will get a new SD card this weekend and wipe using the steps above. Thanks everyone.

a format will fix a corrupt card.

windows format tool is garbage.

gotta use HP Disk Format Tool. hard to find, but free, and it can usually recover even the WORST of failed usb drives and sd cards and make them usable and reliable again.

Finally got on my computer and formatted the SD card using the suggested HP Disk Storage Format Tool. Wasn't hard to find, it was the first result on Google.

Also did the manual wiping of /boot, /system, /cache, and /data. MMS has been fixed. Time will tell if the freezing problems are resolved, I will report back after further testing.

Thanks everybody.

My husband's new OV had a few of the same issues. it had problems running Gingerbreak v1.20.( It wouldn't make a backup at all, it wouldn't run File Permissions Fix, and Superuser would not update it's binary even though I had installed Update Fixer to help ) I did some research and found I needed to run v1.30. I had to unroot the phone, uninstall Rom Manager (it didn't work anyway after the unroot ), re-install Gingerbreak v1.30apk downloaded directly from this forum (or XDA Developers Forums ), re-install Rom Manager,Flash_GUI Image apk and Ixonia Recovery for new phones downloaded from the IHO CM7.1 pages. Then follow the steps. PERFECTION ! Great work Guys !
