MY phone says it's charging when it's not

My Samsung Galaxy Nexus 7 says it's charging when it's not and then suddenly says it's not charging. This effects my phone when it's on because the screen will be going on each time the phone says it's charging.

My resolution to this would be if I can stop the screen from turning on when I plug my phone into charge and take it out.

There isn't a Samsung galaxy nexus 7. Which device is it. Is it a nexus or galaxy?

The Nexus 7 is a Tablet, not a phone. It is made by Asus, not Samsung. There are 4 variants. Nexus 7 2012 WiFi, Nexus 7 2012 WiFi + 3G, Nexus 7 2013 WiFi, Nexus 7 2013 WiFi + LTE... Is it one of these 7 inch screen tablets???

The Galaxy Nexus is a phone. It is made by Samsung. There are 4 variants: l9250 or Galaxy X, i515 Galaxy Nexus for Verizon or Galaxy Nexus CDMA, l9250M for Telus or Galaxy Nexus 3G, LTE L700 for Sprint... Is is one of these 4.65 inch screen phones???
