Android Central Question

I have no knowledge of phones, but I'll try to describe it as best as I can. I hope any of you recognize this... attack(?) and would be willing to help me.

So half an hour ago I connected my phone to the Internet. I've disconnected it an hour before and there was never a problem like this one.

As soon as I connected to the WiFi, I opened a web browser (Google Chrome), to read stuff on Fanfiction.net. At this point, my phone has scrolled up and down in rapid manner, randomly, and were clicking stuff (thankfully just words and not links). I was confused and put the phone away from my hand for a few seconds, but it did not stop at all. It was so fast that I couldn't see everything that's happening.

I can still touch the screen and everything was still responsive to me, and I realize that something was wrong so I tried to bring down the notification bar to disconnect my device from internet, but then it quickly dismiss every notification I had.

By this time I had panicked and tried to shut off my phone with the power button.

The options appear in order;
Power Off
Reboot

I tried to click power off, but it chooses 'screenshot' instead. I held down the power button for as long as I can (8 sec and then it will reboot), but my phone won't turn off, the random clicking (and dismissing apps) continued and knowing I can't turn off the phone, I quickly turned off my Router.

It stopped immediately. I have not connected my phone to the internet as of now.

This is the first time this has ever happened. And I was wondering if it's possible to remotely control phones from a distance, or if this type of thing is an attack or just virus, I have no idea.

Details of my device:
Android version 5.1.1
Device name/model number: Coolpad E561
.
The only app I installed in a few weeks was Turbo VPN (Oct 2nd), and I only used it for 3 minutes before uninstalling it.

Thank you in advance.
