My phone will not time out?

Even though my screen time out is set, I can not get it to just go to sleep. If I turn it off, it comes right back to my home screen and just bypasses the lock screen. Also the button on top that can usually put my phone into sleep mode does nothing except let me turn my phone off and restart it.

Welcome to the forums. If you longpress the power button (about 10-15 seconds), does that force a restart?

I had this very same problem the other day. What I did to correct it is go to the screen settings and switch to a different timeout and back the the normal one that I used. Have not had any issues since.
