My Poor Aria :(

Dropped my Aria today in the bathroom, and cracked the screen. Still works fine, but the long crack and the mass of tape at the bottom don't make it the prettiest thing.

So here's my dilemma: An Aria digitizer on ebay is $80. OR, I can get a Captivate for $250-300, and sell the broken Aria for over $100. So it's either $80 to fix my old phone, or about $175 for a new one.

What's everyone's opinion? Any former Captivate owners that switched?

C'mon Aria owners...talk me out of this ;)

You could always get the screen repaired. Not sure if the price is worth it but there are sites online that repair cellphones.

Honestly... I've never owned or used the Aria, it's WAY too small of a phone. I would save up those pennies and upgrade to the Captivate.

I don't mind the size, I just don't know if this is a phone I could use for two years, and having to spend money on it now makes me want to jump on the opportunity to get something different.

Hey man I'm a old aria owner and as soon as I got the aria I loved it but 34 days after I got it and I saw the captivate I went to radioshack and had my boy swap it for that and spent $80 more and man I was like a kid in a candy store sell that phone ASAP and swap the captivate was one of the best phone I ever had I would had kept it if I didn't hate the tide down data plan crap and I would have gotten the galaxy s epic 4g when I went to Sprint but they want to much on the streets and Sprint wanted $260 with government tax but I got the evo now but my opinion go for the captivate I wouldn't drive yourself crazy with waiting for the stuff to get to your house then having spent the money and something goes wrong when you try and fix your self its not hard but fixing screens are a pain in the butt if you know what mean and in some cases youll have to sotter and take out bolts and I know the aria has these crazy weird star or spike bolts witch I'm pretty sure not the average Joe has sitting in there junk drawer lol sorry for the long post but I really wanted to tell you don't waist the time or money haha :-)

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning toward the Captivate because it will probably get more developer support into the future.

Ya I was left alone in the dust lol couldn't really find much but I got the captivate and the where working in the gps fix before Samsung was lol and they have a app or screen lag fix that makes you phone so fast you'll need to hold you phone tight cuz you'll be going for a ride in the overclock lane lol but it truly is a great piece if technology what ever you choose tho is up to you in the end and you'll have fun messing around with the 16gb internal memory and the 1ghz possessor its a humming bird there good but deff can't down the evos snapdragon possessor lol have fun :-)

Dude, no offense but your posts are difficult to read. Learn how to punctuate.

Just an update (like anyone cares lol):
I decided to repair my Aria and stick with it for a little while. I just couldn't get over the problems with Samsung (not to mention I'm a HTC fanboy). I'll save up for a future HTC phone for my next upgrade.

Just curious. How did you end up repairing the phone and what was the cost? In case I or someone else ever needs to do the same.

Haven't repaired it yet, but I bought a replacement digitizer off Ebay for $75 (there were some cheaper prices, but they were Hong Kong sellers, and I didn't want to wait a month). The process doesn't look hard, but I'll know better when I do it.

Hello, newbie here. :) I just took mine to Cellular Renewal (a place here in Nashville) and they are fixing it for $125. You can get an aftermarket digitizer for less, but if you are under warranty you will want the original. I've found that alot of these cell phone stores that sell and service multiple brands will generally charge around $30. Might be worth it to check around, even at kiosks in the mall.

So I went to repair my Aria today...took awhile to get everything off, but finally got it and got everything put together...and now I have a cracked LCD. Not sure I want to deal with fixing that (and breaking something else), so I might be picking up a Captivate from Ebay.

So I got my screen fixed, but they broke my camera in the process...they ended up sending it to HTC and they apparently replaced not only my camera, but the new screen that had JUST been replaced...I suppose they thought it just HAD to have an AT&T logo on it...lol It took me 2 weeks because of the camera issue, but she's good as new. Now if I can just get rid of that horrible, half-working FB app...
