I tried to cheer it up but it won't work... Its stuck :( Occasionally the button works if I push it REALLY hard, but mainly i've been forced to use the slide out keyboard to turn it on and either wait for it to time out or use the LockEnabler app to shut it off...

Think I'm going to take it back in since its still under warranty.

Just wondering though, anyone else have this problem?

Went into the Verizon store today and the manager told me they stopped getting the original droids in their warehouse and proceeded to tell me that they'd probably just swap me out for a Droid2...

After he finished telling me all the cool stuff about Droid2, one of the grunt employees helped me and when i said the manager mentioned swapping it out for a droid2, grunt went over, talked to the manager, and then said he had to check the warehouse again... Low and behold, they got a shipment of 900 new Droids in today... guess I got lucky... I'll be getting a regular Droid in the mail instead of one of those cool Droid2s...

maybe they were just playing me... trying to get me hyped about the new Droid2 so i'd just fork over some extra cash in frustration of wanting a newer phone. Oh well... I'll be just as happy with an original Droid as long as it has a working power/lock button :)

I read of other people having the same problem with the power button. Hopefully your replacement is problem free. :)

Wow that's crazy, sounds like a rare lemon. Motorola is known for solid and quality phone construction. I hope they give you a brand new Droid 1 and not a refurb. I'm sure they will they have plenty!

Well... I have had this phone since Nov. 6th, 2009 - Day of the Droids :) so it has done a pretty good job, but still sucks that it had to go and crap out on me... Oh well... I get an O.G. Droid shipped to me tomorrow... hopefully, like you said, its a new one and not a refurb!

I have the EXACT same problem as of this week. Ugh

That sucks... maybe you'll be lucky and they won't get a last minute warehouse stock of original Droids so you can get a cool Droid2 :)

Regardless though, it'll be a free replacement since the Droid has a 1 year warranty so at least there's that...

Personally though, I'm going to miss my trusty Droid... just don't know if i'll be able to bond with the new one... kinda like the new-puppy-to-replace-an-old-puppy thing... it just won't be the same because I know its not.

R.I.P. My first Droid. R.I.P.

Ive noticed, if I open up the keyboard sometimes the power button will get stuck if it's not completely opened. Like if I don't actually open it all the way to expose the keyboard and hear the screen "click" into place. If I close the screen it works just fine again. Doesn't happen all the time, just once in a while. Since I don't use the physical keyboard much, unless Im flashing a new rom it's not a big deal for me.
