My Pre-Launch Day 3VO vs. My Replacement I Got Yesterday

Just wanted to point out my own personal differeces between the 2... FYI, I ordered a replacement mainly to revert back to the pre OTA hboot. That turned out to be a bust, as it already had the updates and new hboot out of the box.

pLaunch
- Has a brighter screen, not a big deal except maybe in direct sunlight
- Has a crisper screen! This is the one big thing that is bothering me as the first one seems to have a much sharper screen. I set up both identical and notice the words on widgets and other things have much sharper cleaner edges(like as if it were a higher resolution.
- Screen IS misaligned/tilted

Replacement
- Dimmer screen which is a little better for very dark rooms where even 0% brightness was a little bright. But makes 3D pics/videos seem a little dark
- Screen not as crisp, edges of things seemed smoothed over and not sharp like the other(still good but a definite difference)
- Speaker is louder which is definitely a good thing
- Screen is not misaligned as the first one was
- Battery door has the tiniest bit of play in 1 point(will probably swap with the old one)

etc....
- Colors are slightly different between the 2 each has it's times where one or the other looks better
- Signal strength cant really comment on as I haven't been away from my Airave
- Battery seems fine but i'm still in the process of calibrating the new one
- Both seem to be just as fast as each other

I'm not surprised the 2nd has a different screen. HTC is known for using different vendors for their LCDs. It goes back to the Treo days when they were making them to the Touch pros and now Evos.

Do you have them side-by-side now or is this from what you remember?

I had them side by side but I sent the old one back about an hour ago

You would figure that the replacement would have been slightly better than the original, how much does the misaligned screen bother you? If not that much i would say keep the first one.

lol too late for that... I was assuming that I could not keep the first one as they were expecting that phone back to the warehouse. Was I wrong?
