My s3 got burning hot while charging

While charging my phone overnight and woke up to get my s3 it was burning hot and checked to see what used the battery the screen was on for more than 3 hours straight will this had damaged my phone or the battery anyone had this problem

Excessive heat while charging is a sign your battery is having a problem. I'd highly recommend replacing it ASAP. You don't want it to explode in your pocket.

I am having the same problem. I tried replacing my battery and the phone is still very hot. It sometimes gets hot, even when I'm not charging it. I almost burnt my hand the other day.

Mine wasn't charging just sitting in the belt case. I reached for it and it was painfully hot and dead after cool down. The battery was swapped into the replacement s3 and no problem since so that fry job didn't seem battery related.

This is actually a phone problem. Try using a task manager and kill apps running in the background.
