My S4 and HTC One Comparison (Ongoing)

Despite that, the screen is still slightly smaller than the s4.

The difference seems much greater than the numbers would lead you to believe. The difference is very noticeable when comparing the two phones.

Wow, what a stellar thread. Thanks for sharing. I had the One and loved the design but thats about it.

Even though I have a tab, I cannot stand having a small phone. Probably because I wouldn't want to strain my eyes, ha.

I may have found a fatal flaw in the S4 for me. Today when I was out and about the phone had serious issues with music playback. Songs would start to play and then fail, multiple songs would fail in a row, I would restart Google Play and the songs would work only to have others randomly fail.

The songs are good songs and playback without issue on a PC, iPod, my old GS2, and the HTC One. Only the S4 has issues with playback.

Play Music sucks for me because it is so troublesome. I would just use rocket player.

You better get your facts straight the one has a 4.7 screen

They meant with apps that are not coded correctly you have the black menu bar across the bottom of the display which takes up a decent bit of screen real estate. This issue is being addressed in the 4.2.2 update though with the option to hold the home key to display the menu.

I feel you about the menu button. It's one of the main reasons I stick with Galaxy phones. Really hate seeing a black bar take up real estate when there is no menu option.

Any one can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the one in the us is still on 4.1. At least it was when I was trying to choose between the 2.

Great comparison OP.

No one responded over at nexus section but I sold my S4 last night, picking up my 16GB nexus 4. I'm just bored and want to try Stock Android.

I admit hTc can be at times a PITA* but at the end you're holding & looking at it and this is where the One is amazing at.

*Lack or Poorly Placed Power & Wake Buttons
*I love TouchWiz's Left-to-Right Swipe to access Messaging & Calling
*Lack of microSD, means I have no control of Storage. I can't change it to ExFat to transfer my HD (>4GB) files.

Maybe there's some confusion. I was talking about the HTC one having 4.1.2 not the s4.

You perhaps did not read what I posted, since referring to the usable space when using the ui and apps. The nav bar only goes away for video and stays for browsing and apps. You are right though, since I thought it was a 4.8 display. The actual useable space for apps is closer to 4.2".

That is a relatively huge difference from a 5" display. Especially since the same size device.

The navigation bar takes up so much space?

About .5" diagonally. Compare the two devices next to each other to see the real difference. Is usable display space is not an issue, no harm no foul.

That said, seems silly both being the same size, yet far less useable display on the One.
