Android Central Question

I had this problem with an S4 and was able to clear it by resetting the phone icons.
When I transferred all my data to the S8 the problem appeared. Resetting the single phone app doesn't have any effect. Can anyone help please.

It's always in the top left corner, next to the time.
I've just had a voicemail, listened to it, deleted it, got the message "you have no more messages" and the icon is still there.
Regards

So you long pressed the phone dialer app and cleared data, catch, and force stopped?
Try same for contacts app

Tried both those then restarted the phone. Voicemail icon still in top left corner.

Try this, swipe down from the status bar, long press the notification related to that voicemail icon, tap the info icon and see which app it opens.

Hi Javier P
It opened the phone app after saying "Notifications - these notifications can't be turned off "
The icon is still there.

Mmmm, very strange. Clearing data for the phone app should be enough to remove that notification, at least temporarily. I'll search a bit about it and let you know if I find anything else.

Just a thought, how many 'Phone' apps do you see under settings - apps - show system? Sometimes there are two, or even three, different apps with the same name. If you have duplicates clear data for all of them.

Ok thanks
I may be out of contact for a few hours when you get back to me. If so I'll respond as soon as I can.

If that dont work , try going into phone settings clear data, cache and force stop settings or see you have voice mail.in system apps And clear it there other wise factory reset and dont carry over the s4 stuff just photos

Hi guys.
Tried all options, then looked at BT community posts. Quite a few said contact BT. Also tried swapping my SIM card with another provider.
The voicemail icon was carried across with the SIM card!
Spoke to BT who've agreed to supply a new SIM card and referred problem to their tech dept.
Will get back with results, once I've tried the options.
Many thanks for your efforts so far.
Regards

Hi guys.
Been a month now since I put the new SIM card from BT in my phone.
No more icons saying I've got voicemail, just a message when I get a real one! Doesn't change if I switch the phone off/on.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
Regards
Brian
