I have a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime S920L. When I needed to update Facebook messenger at the Galaxy Play Store, it appeared to download, but will not install. I get error message which says "can't install messenger, see recommended solutions". I tried everything it recommended, but it still will not install. Help! What can I do to fix?

Can try clear cache and then force stopping Play Store

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Android Apps forum to the General Help forum, since the former is intended for developers to promote their apps.

Apart from clearing the app cache and data from the Play Store app, also try clearing the app cache/data from the Download Manager app. You'll have to tap Menu>Show System in the Settings>Apps menu to see it.

So I should clear the data out of both the Google Play Store and Download Manager? I thought that would disable those.

No, disabling is a different option. Clearing the app cache and data won't delete anything important, since your Play Store settings will re-sync from your Google account.

Still will not install Facebook messenger. If I remove my Google account to start over, won't that delete all my emails and anything else related to Google on my phone? I don't want to lose all my messages and info.

As long as everything in your Google account was set to sync (in Settings>Accounts), then adding the Google account back should re-sync all of your Google data.
