My Samsung S4 died during an update and now it won't turn on, what happened?

my samsung s4 died during update and now wont turn on

my samsung s4 was updating as the screen came up and said updating software with he android guy and then it died
when i turned it back on it powered up and asked whether to wipe the phone or if i wish to load a custom os but before i could choose and option it died again. now i'm at home and i wish to charge it but it wont turn on. its just blank.
does anyone have an idea as to what i could do?

First, plug it in and let it FULLY charge. Once done, try to boot into recovery mode. That should allow you to get through the update menus.

Since the problem was caused by the carrier (they send the update), bring it into them and ask them to reflash the update or replace the phone. They buy what they break, the same as anyone else. (I'm on my 3rd Note 3 because 2 updates failed badly enough that they had to replace the phones.)

i doubt they will do that since i didnt buy it from them but i'll carry it to the samsung store and see if they are able to fix it or i will try to get a new battery and try to reboot it then
