my screen is fading to black. How do I adjust the brightness when I can't see the screens?

My screen is growing dim. I can barely see the screens. How do I adjust the brightness if I can't see the screens? I've tried restarting the phone to no avail

Your LED bank (the layer behind the screen that produces the light) is failing, or something on the motherboard is. You can't "adjust" bad hardware, it has to be replaced. A repair shop will have to determine whether you ned a new screen or a new motherboard.
