Seems like there are at least two different issues discussed on this thread, one related to the smart cover and mag switch, the other probably related to battery connection or some defect in that circuit. If you tab is powering completely off when you jostle it, a connector problem would be the prime candidate as the problem.
I have continued to have smart cover problems. The tablet will sometimes turn off when the cover is folded around the back because apparently the magnetic switch can still be activated from the back. I also noticed that the compass function is impacted by the cover. I also notice that sometimes if the cover isn't closed evenly, the tablet does not power off. I have decided to just remove the metal disc from the smart cover and turn on/off manually.
