My terrible morning without my Droid

So, naturally, I wake up for work late. Rushing around, notice I didn't charge my Droid last night (was playing SNES in bed and fell asleep... happy sigh...). So I throw it on the charger while I get ready for work. Get dressed, rush out the door. Have a lot to do today.

I'm in my car rushing to work and put on the radio. I usually listen to news/sports talk but FM was on for some reason, and oddly to a station not even on my preset (was someone in my car last night? lol?). Turns out a kick ass Stevie Ray Vaughn song was on. Sick. Haven't listened to him in a while.

At that moment I decided to hit up Pandora to make a Stevie Ray Vaughn station. Oes noes where's my Droid? Droid does a lot of things, but it can't help you much when it's sitting miles away on its charger :(

Alright. I can do this. It's just one day. I notice I'm under a 1/4 tank of gas. Alright, lemme see if I can get local gas prices for the cheapest 93. Damnit, don't have my Droid. Alright no big deal just stop at the Sunoco station here... get gas, drive down the road and see another Sunoco station $0.15 cheaper per gallon. Damnit just wasted $2.

Radio's getting boring, reach for Pandora again. Son of a.... forgot... no big deal. Damnit traffic. Lemme see if google maps has any uncongested roads. Damnit, no Droid. ****.

Can't remember if I closed the door to my squirrel's cage (southern flying squirrel), lemme call my mother who works from home and have her check. Damnit, no Droid. Alright I probably closed it and he sleeps all day anyway.

Oh come on another traffic jam. Let me call work let them know I'm going to be a little late. Ffffuuu no Droid. Alright... this is bad traffic, lemme check some news feeds while I wait. OMFG no Droid.... Traffic's let up. Oh hey this new Mexican restaurant opened up near work let me see if my friend that works nearby wants to check it out for lunch. Ohhh come on why can't I remember I forgot my Droid?!?

It's been about 2 hours without my Droid and I'm not sure I'll make it til evening.... I keep reaching for it since it's always just there. :(

Cliffs: left my Droid at home. Keep reaching for it instinctively. Might just die from detachment.

Lol I want a status update at the end of the day as well. Just in case, so you don't forget to do that, you better make a note of it on 3banana...Oh wait, f in da a...no Droid!

Oh it was funny too somewhere along the ride I'm like "i'm gonna post on droidforums/androidcentral how crappy it is to not have my droid..."

wtf is wrong with me lol

That's funny. I once read an article about how someone did a survey of smartphone users and found that they were more likely to go back for their cellphone more that their keys if they forgot them at home.

Go to GasBuddy.com

You can send text messages to them with your zip code and it'll give you prices nearby. It's crowd sourced data so it's only as good as people sending in prices (which you should do!!!!). But generally gas prices don't change too much more than once a week so you can get a good idea of where to go.

They have an iPhone app that's pretty nice, but nothing for Droid yet. So let's start emailing them so we can get one too! :D

You really have a pet squirrel? Sweet. What app do you use to check gas prices?

Yea I do. Southern Flying Squirrel.

That thing is awesome. How did you come into the possession of something like that? Are they widely for sale and I'm just naive or was it some freak circumstance?

I wouldn't say "widely". Each state has its own laws on the legality of owning a flyer. I got mine from a breeder in PA. Some breeders are good, some are bad. Some run "puppy mill" style operations, some genuinely love flyers and do a great job.

A lot of people find them as rescues, ie: babies fall out of the nest or parents are killed and they adopt it. Sometimes they can't be released back into the wild so they're kept as pets.

Some people adopt them from friends they meet on message boards that breed them as either a hobby or just because they have multiple flyers that hook up one night ;-p

Flyers and sugar gliders (which are marsupials, not rodents, but are similar to flyers) are fairly popular exotic pets though.
