My thoughts after having the Vivid for around 12 hours.

So I have been playing with this thing for the last 12 hours and I quite like it. It does look a bit weird, in that is is longer than most phones. I also have an Inspire and this thing is thinner and longer than that. This feels much more put together than any other HTC I have ever handled. That being said, The back is weird to get used to. It is not round like the back of an inspire or an evo, it is edgy, it reminded me of an older htc (the fuze).

I have heard this phone described as a stretched out aria, not the case. Feels much more sturdy. The UI runs very smooth, and the included visual voicemail will be a welcome addition for people switching from iphone or blackberries.

Camera seems great, much better than the 8MP on the inspire.

Just first impressions, any questions, just ask.

Oh, ran speedtest, getting a constant 5mbps. I am not in a LTE area though, but this is faster than my other 4g at&t phones.

It doesn't seem amazing to be honest. I havent been doing to much on it, just getting all my apps downloaded, etc. Seems better than the inspire (thank god) but not on par with my Atrix.

1620 mAh battery, which is much larger than the inspire, but still too small imo. 1800+ would be nice. I will know more tomorrow, I will let it idle through the night, and after a half day of work tomorrow I am curious to see where it is at

Speaking of the visual voicemail app, is there anyway you could get that app and post it on here?

I can't wait to go try it out at the AT&T store tomorrow. Hopefully they have one on display...

Out of curiosity, did you leave on the LTE radio even though you weren't in an LTE area? You can switch between GSM/WCDMA (2G/3G) and GSM/WCDMA/LTE in Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode.

How have you found the feel and response of the power button to be? Often the travel and feel of the HTC unlock/power button can be lacking. Thanks

I was about to swap my Galaxy S II for this, but I saw the RAM usage with nothing running was really high compare to the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Is this typical of HTC phones and will it be an issue if a lot of apps are running?

Probably sense. I'm using Sense now, but I'm sure I'll be using GoLauncher soon.

The last htc phone i had was the htc evo3d. The speaker on that phone was in my opinion terrible so I took it back. Would you mind commenting on the loudness and clarity of the loud speaker?
When talking on speakerphone is it loud and clear?
When using media apps like youtube or netflix is it loud and clear?
Would you say that it is at least equal to that of the original htc evo?

The speaker is actually pretty loud when you activate the srs feature it has. I like the speaker is louder than my atrix.

When you open a vid there's a icon second from the right press it.

Sent from my HTC Vivid

how about on a phone call... using the speakerphone is that loud and clear? and how about youtube and using apps like in game music and sound effects and watching videos you make with the camera??

Its loud enough, a bit better than the inspire. That srs option is only for videos I believe.

Out of all the demo LTE phones that we got in store, NONE of them are connecting to the Internet. They don't have the correct APNs loaded, and adding them doesn't help. It's locked to the incorrect APN.

Can this phone fully operate on WiFi only? I.e., can you receive mms on WiFi only. I'm cheap, and I have WiFi at work and home. I hardly ever turn on my data. I noticed with hubby's atrix, that his data has to be turned on to get pics by text. Thanks!
