My thoughts one week in with the LG G6

As I learn more about photography in general, I am starting to put myself in situations where I rely on natural light. I know (through experience) that low light can result in less than good pictures.

Daytime outside is what I prefer. and sometimes daytime inside with plenty of windows.

I took some pretty great shots with the S7 edge. the front facing camera is definitely better on the edge, but for me taking selfies or FF shots is not a priority.

if samsung makes a flat screen phone i would still buy G6 primary for the dual camera and better fps placement

Yep! At 1st I thought I would miss having the LED light. But I found myself liking the way notifications look with the AOD.

Reading these types of posts make me feel a little less anxious about maybe purchasing a phone without an LED notification light. Thank you!

I despise that blinking light. Always on just feels less intrusive and more informative when you need/use it.

My first week with the G6. Really like this phone. So glad I jumped out of the S7E. I love the flat screen & the edges that are not rounded. The battery life is amazing. I just feels good in my hand. The phone never gets warm when charging wireless or on the wall adapter. I really like the double tap to wake up/sleep. I liked that on my v10. The downsides are small & mostly workable. I really miss the LED light. I have to turn up the notification sound so I do not miss any. I miss root. This is the longest I think I have been without root but it also is workable. Root is being worked on for H872 but if it does not come I will survive. Anyway, my short, rambling thoughts.

Pat

I have to agree with most of what you said. Except battery life. On mine it isn't very good. Probably because I'm always on it

I did come from an iPhone 7 plus which had dual speakers (G6 speakers aren't very good) and iPhone had a better battery life. Otherwise the LG G6 is the best phone I've ever used. And I've used alot. My last two phones are the iPhone 7 plus and before that the ZTE Axon 7 (excellent phone too!)

I love having an LED light but sometimes I do worry about its battery consumption; plus most of mine are green so I sometimes fret about what's "there" that I haven't checked yet.

I don't get the gimmick of curved edges. I don't see what value or added benefit they have. It looks cool for a few days and then the impracticality of it sets in and you're left with a very fragile device.

If anyone can explain the purpose of them I'd be interested in figuring this whole curve sensation out.

Tbh I cant stand them

I have an edge swipe feature set up on my G6 that is more complete and just as useful as the S8 edge swipe.
Other than that, i find the curved edges makes the phone more awkward to hold, although the S8 is a massive improvement over the S6 and S7 in that area.
It also makes typing that much more annoying than it already is.
And films and games look silly on these displays as well.

I agree it looks nice, but pretty much has no function other than those notifying lights when the phone is face down

Thats weird. My G6 has a much better battery than my G5 did, and my G5 always outperformed every iPhone it came across in battery life.

iam getting excellent battery life with my G6 fyi i have dual sim version and both sims active and i dont have a sd card as my model is 64gb and iam use to glance screen from nokia days and don't miss the led notification light
