My thunderbolt just shuts off by itself

There's also no guarantee that the next 3 tbolts i return wont be as bad or worse from comments i've read here.
It's frustrating. I wish i could have gotten a bionic or 4g x2. I never had these problems with my d1. I had one other htc phone, a windows phone, and it gave me so much trouble that i exchanged it for the d1. Im starting to think that all htc products are poorly engineered.

there's nothing wrong with the Tbolt. if everyone that loves their Tbolt would post as much as those that have had problems, i believe that the percentages would be in favor of the Tbolt being a super great phone. unfortunately, bad news travels better than good news, especially in geekdom.

Absolutely positive that the phone is well charged. It even happened once while BEING charged.

I called vzw and the wonder technician i spoke to said they have to alerts at all about problems of any kind with thunderbolt.

I called htc and they told me to do a factory reset like its no big deal. If i have to reinstall every free app and do all the settings for every app all over again it might as well be on a new phone.

Ive not pulled the battery in several days so i switched back from the extended battery to the factory battery. I'm going to see if it happens again. If it does I'm gonna exchange the phone but only if i get a brand new one. A friend of mine got a "factory refurbished phone" when he returned his for an unrelated problem.

My phone never jams. No data errors. Everying is great except it shuts itself off about once a day for no reason.
If you don't want to root for the MR2 radio, try turning off your location services. That seems to help stave off the random shutdowns.

If you call Verizon tech support and tell them that after the update your phone now randomly reboots they will send you a refurb phone. They are well aware of the problem and didn't even hesitate to send me a new one as long as it's under warranty. If you want to expedite the process just tell them that you already tried a factory reset and it still does it.

I paid for a NEW phone. I dont want a refurb.

I would install the leaked MR2 update before rolling the dice on returning the phone. It should fix your issues.

How? Where from? Edit.. Never mind. I just read in droidforums. Net that it doesnt solve the problem and even adds additional problems.... Something about flickering.

I wonder if a new moto with 4g comes out next week if i can exchange without being forced to the pay for data plan?

Not sure what they are basing that information on. Pretty much everyone on this forum that has it installed has had nothing but good things to say about the MR2 update.

This is not one of the "normal" Thunderbolt problems, you two both need to take your phones back for replacements. No one knows when the update will get here, it could be months.

If by "'normal' Thunderbolt problems" you mean the random reboots and other things that have been going on since the MR1 update, I'm afraid you're incorrect. It most certainly IS a part of those issues, and has been well documented as such on this forum.

No reason to be afraid. Just exchange the phone and the boogieman will go away.

As I stated in another thread leaked-MR2 took 2 weeks like MR1 did to start acting up with the reboots. I was happy with this phone before and am happy with it when it works as it should but it has issues. And slowly the percentage of unhappiness is increasing.

As I've said i can live with reboots but it is important that when we THINK the phone is on and can receive calls that it really is. The D1 gives a long vibration when turning off. I wish the tbolt did. At least then I might notice it turn off.

I really don't see what you have to lose by trying the MR2. If you're phone is shutting off or rebooting that much, then try the MR2 update. From everything i've seen on this forum, it doesnt make it worse, only better. A slight few might still be having rebooting issues and a few apps may not work but overall its a very good update.

Mr2

Where did u load it from?

Someone else wrote mr1 takes 2 weeks to start acting up and mr2 does the same. DasBamf does WAY too much for me. I don't want to wipe location indicator or htc or verizon software. Overclock? Set kernel? Forgeddabout t.

How long have u had mr2 installed?

Anybody here had trouble with mr2?

Never mind.... Just read a long thread about it. First it wipes all current setups. Unacceptable. Next it only works with gb or wait no it doesnt work with gb. I am a stock user so no gb here. Download it?. Put it in sd card root? No clue. 3 different versions? Plain jane? Turn phone off then on holding volume button but be careful not to do this or that or you will brick your phone. This stuff is WAY beyond me.

I've had 2 random REBOOTS On MR2 in a month. However that's much better than the 2 a day on MR1.

I dont care about reboots. Had maybe 3 since getting phone. Its the random off that bothers me and again it is very rare. Not at all the first week then 2 or 3 times since. Not worth risking bricking my phone.

Again, which version do u use and where did u get it?
