My Verizon GN3 Nightmare

Probably depends on where you live and the kind of coverage you get/need.

indeed, and what kind of speed tolerance you would accept. Some people may be fine with EDGE on the road.

If you only need VZW coverage a few times a year for short period of time, a Tmo 50-60 plan plus a VZW prepaid MHS may still be cheaper than going with VZW full time.

Wowza, talk about "Gettin' Your Brandy New Phone Buzz" killed.... sounds like this is Verizon's way of getting even w/ their customers for being able to take advantage on the "upgrade/unlimited bug...." j/k but it wouldn't surprise me, if ever their was a company i wouldn't put something past, its them :-*

Question: (and if this was answered, forgive me, i did read 95% of this post : ) I saw where y'all said it appears its limited to Norfolk area, but Is this only Samsung GN 3 phones?

Thanx, BTC

Yes, looks like the problem was located only in the Chesapeake/VB/Norfolk area AND on Note 3s. All other phones (S3, S4, Iphones, etc) seemed to be working fine.

Best things is that the agents at the Lynhaven Mall and Greenbrier had no clue and said it was a "major" issue, like ALL the Note3s in the country where bad.

Called Verizon today and they didn't even have any reports on problems. I requested a call back, as I'll head that way again next week and need a working phone.

Why are people still on Verizon when EVERY other service is cheaper and AT&T is faster? Is it because there is better service in your area with Verizon? They bring our phones and updates late, have horrible customer service, and are full of themselves. What is the point of staying with them can someone elaborate?

Verizon voice service is the most reliable overall. Each person should do an analysis of the plans available to see what is the best for them. While it is generally true that unsubsidized is cheaper, it is not always the case. My situation is certainly in the minority, but I have 5 lines of service with 2 smartphones, one with unlimited unthrottled 4GLTE, and 3 dumb phones on Verizon 550 minute family share plan and pay $140/mo total for 5 lines before taxes, fees, and discounts. The closest plan on T-Mobile's Unsubsidized option would be $130 per month before taxes, fees and discounts. T-Mobile does offer more than Verizon does, but on stuff that I don't need. Note that I am on a legacy plan, which is not available for new customers, however, you can assume liability of legacy plans, which may cost a bit up front, but may be worth it in the long run, depending on your usage. Just to do a comparison of what I use, T-Mobile costs $1,860 MORE than Verizon over 2 years.

Verizon
$3,360.00 =$140.00/mox24(Monthly Fee for 5 lines for 24 months)
$1,000.00 =$200.00X 5(Cost of Subsidized iPhones for 5 lines)
$150.00=$30.00X 5(Cost of Upgrade fee for 5 lines)

$4,510.00Verizon Total for 2 years with 5 phones

T-Mobile
$3,120.00 =$130.00/moX24(Monthly Fee for 5 lines for 24 months)
$3,250.00 =$650.00X5(Cost of Unsubsidized iPhones for 5 lines)

$6,370.00T-Mobile Total for 2 years with 5 phones

$1,860.00Total Savings by using Verizon Over T-Mobile

If you only need 2gb of high speed data with unlimited talk and text, then Verizon is cheaper.

Verizon
Unlimited Talk, Text, 2gb data Loyalty Plan

$210Note 3 subsidized price
$30Upgrade fee
$1,680Total Cost over 2 years

T-Mobile
Unlimited Talk, Text, 2.5gb plan
$1,440($60x24mo)
