Hi everyone. I've had my Xperia for about one week now. It's a great phone. While surfing (no games played) the phone gets really warm. Around 104F.

Phone doesn't have a cover yet so I do think think it should be getting that warm.

I've reset everything back to factory reset with a fresh setup.

I'm using Ampere app and watching the temp etc. Battery 🔋 is certainly affected by the heat for sure.

Any other suggestions?

How's your cell signal? If it's poor, that could cause things to heat up.

Also, does this happen in Safe Mode? If not, then some app you installed might be going rogue.

I had the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium before I bought the xzp. It got real warm but Sony built in cooling for that chip. The XZ Premium is way cooler.

The cell phone coverage seems to be steady. Other phones same location didn't ha enough this problem. This model of phone I purchased on Ebay. The fingerprint sensor is enabled which I'm wondering if this is a European version! It was enabled out of the box. It came had a weird three pronged plug so I'm wondering if this version setup is making the phone warm?

The phone works great and has LTE coverage.

It could be some form of bloatware/malware. Check your running applications/services and see if you notice something suspicious. Regular scan with Malwarebytes is also recommended

Phone heat usually correlates to either intensive gaming or malware. Not always obviously, but there is a possibility.

When it heats up, does anything in the Battery stats show up as using an inordinate amount of battery?

How about the phone's own Settings>Battery screen?

I see that Cell Standby is 4%, and your cell signal is only 2 bars. It's still possible that poor cell signal is causing an issue. Charge up to 100%, then use it normally until it's down to about 30%. Then show us a screenshot of GSam's cell signal strength graph.

the XZ/XZS does get warm due to its metal body, remember, metals are extremely good conductors of heat.

i do have a modified thermal engine if you are rooted, it utilises the msm_therm sensor, which is much more accurate than what sony is using(emmc_therm)
