Mysterious battery drain

Are you talking with screen on? I'm getting these same similar numbers with a little less display and a little more cell standby and phone idle.

That's the funny part. The screen was off for most of the time. I'm fairly confident that there is something else sucking the power and those percentages are of a much smaller subset.

I've been struggling with the 250-350mA issue and the CPU pegged at 100% issue off and on since Sunday. I'm out of ideas. My guess is network instability causing the radio(s) to go bonkers. Only success I've had for extended periods was setting to 3G all day.

Here's a thread I was posting in over at XDA, regarding the CPU pegged issue. No one here or there seems to have any ideas on these two problems. :\

paulmike3 - has your lowest power draw been about 250mA? What are the top CPU using apps on your system?

After installing SystemPanel (thanks nate44) the top 5 CPU using apps over the last two hours (going from 99% battery to 33% during those two hours) are:

1. System Process (9m 20s)
2. System (1m 43s)
3. SystemPanel (52s)
4. CurrentWidget (27s)
5. HTC Sense (25s)

I think I can safely say it is the System, which sounds like the same problem you are having. So far today I have fully drained the battery 3 times with only minor use of the phone.

I have two different problems, each occurring randomly, usually the same day as each other, and usually one after the other (and sometimes one, the other, back to one, then back). Ugh.

The first is the CPU going to 100% (see below).
The second is the idle current running at 250+mA.

In troubleshooting the CPU, I also installed OSMonitor. When I have the problem, "Android System" is using almost all of the CPU (95+%). The process listed under Android System is "system_server". Google has some hits about system_server hitting the CPU hard, but I can't find anything or anyone that can help. :\

Oddly, when the CPU is pegged, it's only pegged when not idle. The CPU and current go to normal levels when idle. However, when the current issue happens, it's on top of normal when idle and in use (ie., when not idle, it's +250mA -- ~700-900mA).

Hopefully the update will rollout soon and fix this problem. It's extremely frustrating when it happens.

Today, I dodn't have the same battery issues. It looks like it is hit or miss. I made a bunch of changes, so I'm not sure what eventually solved the problem.

I had the same thing happen to my battery a few days ago. I posted about it and was given the suggestion to reboot to close any rogue apps. Worked for me. Back to great battery life. I also check the Blockbuster app occasionally.

Yep, it happened to me over the weekend after I use weatherbug and the NFL app. I was surprised when it happen sunday afternoon when I never even used the phone. It only lasted about 3 1/2 hrs after taking it off the charger.

I restarted the phone and that seemed to have worked and got me back on track with the battery.

I was having the same problem for the last few days. I checked my blockbuster app as well and the updates had been turned on again. Hopefully this solves the problem. I will keep everyone posted. THANKS!

My battery worked fine for a total of about 3 days, could go all day without having to charge it. Now no matter what I do, I have to charge it at least twice per day. I rooted & played around with setcpu & have the same results. This new update better help with my battery life or I'm giving up

I was having the same problem after the outage. I did double check the blockbuster app which was off, did a battery pull and restarted the phone. It has been fine since. It now sits at about 38 mah when at rest and averaging about 12 to 16 hours of moderate use before hitting 15%. So I am back to happy.

Using a stock TB. installed the currentwidget...but it will not read or create a log file. Did some searching and info said to add the /mnt to the sd card location. Tried that, no luck, tried a different folder...no luck....even reset the phone....no luck....still will not create or write the log to the sd card.

I've been unable to use 4G since last week, because my battery usage skyrockets when I set it to CDMA+LTE. I'm still convinced whatever network problems they had screwed us (or at least me) up.

I sit at 200-250mA when idle on 4G. 30-35mA on 3G. Hopefully this update (that may or may not be here tomorrow) fixes it. :\

Haven't been on in a while just wanted to say thanks. I tracked down the rouge app (Qik) and have not had a problem since. Again thanks to everyone at AC!

Having the same issues as others in this thread. Rebooted and turned off the 4g radio. Goes down to 88ma or so and then shoots to 200-300 stays there regardless of the apps running or the apps I force stop. This phone is turning into more trouble than it's worth :(

I thought my battery was running hot - I just installed currentwidget and it's at 380mA to 400mA. Something is causing it to work overtime. My battery heating up just started after the 4G problems. Any way to find out what is making it run so hot?

I am in the same exact boat! How do I find out which app is causing the jump to 350mA. I tried different monitoring tools, such as Watchdog CPU but I couldn't see it. The only one I see with this app is that the "Android System" was using 52% of cpu momentarily.

I don't have much background app other than the following:
- Push mail (Exchange)
- Meebo
- Weather (check every 8 hours)
- Traffic Counter (monitor number of SMS, data sent via 4G, etc.)
-...and of course, the monitoring tool it self such as
- Quick Settings
- ZDBox
- Android Assistant

My battery live is 8hr 45~min of lightweight uses, such as email, Google Reader, browse here and there (maybe total of 20 minutes).
