Mysterious Case of the Missing Aps

On a somewhat regular basis these days (not necessarily every day, but often enough), I go searching for an app that I KNOW was installed (and have used many time) and I KNOW was NOT uninstalled only to find that it has gone missing. The problem jumps out at me when I go to start an app using a shortcut on the wallpaper only to find that the icon has disappeared and a message appears saying that the app was not found. I have also noticed it when trying to launch apps from the app list.

The first one or two times that it happened, I sat there dazed and confused, assuming that I had somehow screwed something up. The third and fourth time it happened, I began to suspect the phone. And while I may still be dazed and confused, the 5th and 6th time (and thereafter), I know that something is buggy.

Take my bloatware, please. And I would hardly miss Bubble Blast or Sensorly.
But I actually USE and NEED Evernote and Tripit.
And vanishing Angry Birds??? Now that's just mean.

A couple of times I had to download and reinstall the apps. Last time it happened, I shut down and reboots my phone and the missing app reappeared (good ol' CTRL+ALT+DEL).

Anyone else experience this and know what is causing it?

Happens to me every once and awhile. I'm not sure what causes it but the apps eventually come back. I plug my phone into the usb port on my car and sometimes I notice they disappear after unplugging. Maybe there is some confusion about accessing the memory card. When you hook it up to the computer you have a drive for internal and external - not sure what happens when it's hooked up to the car. Probably not too helpful but you're not alone

Some apps don't like being installed or moved to the SD Card. Not sure if you have used Apps2SD or not.

You might want to think about the SDCard as the culprit as Incrediboy suggested. They are cheap and definitely better to replace before it fails then to lose what's on there.

Hope this helps.

I have this happen sometimes when an update is installed, AND the phone needs to be re-booted to finish the installation. Try turning the power off, and then back on.
