My Samsung J3, running Oreo, mysteriously added one of my contacts to the home screen one day and another appeared on a seperate day, and I cannot remove them! When I long-touch them, the only options are "Message" and "Call."

Duplicate threads merged, and I changed your original guest post so that you're the owner of it.

Please read my original response above.

To check home screen settings , long press empty page on your home screen then option at bottom choose home screen and see if toggle on for home screen lock . Otherwise you using a 3rd party launcher?

I can move, delete, etc the other items on my home screen.

I am new to cell phone ownership but I have not loaded any other launcher.

Hi, welcome to AC!

So when you long press it , it doesn't give option to delete? You can move it around ?

Do you have a screen protector on? If so, perhaps it's interfering with the normal long-press response in that part of the screen.

The one thing you can try is go to settings>apps>find your launcher should be called Samsung experience or touch wiz and tap it then scroll to storage and clear it's data and force stop it but this will clear all your home screen arrangements

"Easy mode" makes it harder? ;-D

It WAS on easy mode but I turned it off and the offending icons are still there and still imovable.

Did the launcher bit too. No dice.

Yay! So, I can move, delete, etc all of the icons except for Roger and Rickie ones. Press on them any way you like, you only get two options "message" and "call." Can't even move it to a different spot on the home screen.

No.
