n4 showing "emergency call" below carrier

not sure why but for some reason this afternoon below my carrier it says "emergency call". I restarted the phone already but the msg is still there. I can make & receive calls so it can't be the carrier & the reception is full .

Do a factory restore. When it's done then sign in to your google account and check restore from google account. You should be all set. Otherwise consult customer care from you carrier.

Uh, doesn't it always say that on the lockscreen? I was under the impression it what so you could make a 911 call without having to unlock the phone. Your advice of a factory restore is pretty extreme...

Don't go wiping your phone just yet. Did you setup a password or face unlock for your phone? Mine only shows "emergency call" if I have the phone require a pin or password for unlocking. With out a PW it won't show "emergency call" because you can just swipe to unlock and make the call.

Its always there if you PW lock your phone, but not for normal swipe to unlock.

I am with Mr Nobody, mine always says that on the lockscreen. It is for the exact reason he stated.

Don't listen to the people above. This is a known nexus 4 defect restore the device. If that doesn't work RMA it. I'm still waiting on my 5th RMA for the same issue.

It always says emergency call on the lockscreen, unless you are talking about something else.

Your 5th RMA for the same issue? What is this so called defect that you had to RMA 5 times.

Don't be daft!! If you tap on it it dials 911 without you having to unlock the screen. I hope that is not why you sent yours back 5 times! Yikes!

Thanks guys I do have a pin lock. Probably why it says that. Set it up 2 weeks ago probably didn't notice it before

Yes, this is normal. I have mine setup to enter a four digit code at the lock screen and below the carrier, it always says emergency calls only. That is because when the phone is locked, no calls are allowed but emergency calls. This is the way it is supposed to be.
