Naked or case

I bought a TPU case to provide minimal protection but I just love the feel of it naked...so that's how I'm rolling. Just gotta be a little extra careful.

Won't ever put a case or screen protector on my phone. Ruins the look of it, in my opinion. Don't have insurance either, so I'm living on the edge. This is not for the faint of heart.

I just use the oem shell/holster combo. Slim and perfect for clipping to my shorts for bicycle rides

I'm using a zagg screen with the seidio brand surface case most of the time, which isn't too bulky and has a nice feel. If I'm doing anything that puts the phone at risk, I have second, shock absorbing layer I can add.

I opted not to pay for insurance, since to cover mine and my wife's phone, we'd pay about 15$ per month. I figured that in a lifetime of owning phones (and laptops, etc.), we are only going to break so many, but we would shell out enough in insurance premiums to buy the ones we break and then some. And just because you phone retails at $600 doesn't mean you have to replace it with a $600 phone...

I'd rather go naked but I use a case. Its the high gloss silicon one from VZW for $15. It probably won't protect from high drops but should be good for bumps and knicks.

Naked is for strip joints not 600 dollar phones. Using a shell/holster combo with a coil lanyard. Not a popular look but has saved my device once already :-)

I remember when I got my thunderbolt all excited about 4G when it came out, went to gym dropped a 50lb dumbell on it... No insurance.... Luckly I had 30 days to purchase it.... So I did.... Got a replacement for a hundred bucks?... Been paying the extra 7 bucks since.... Stopped taking phone to gym too! Got a nano for gym tunes!

I carry mine without a case so it easily fits into the CarDock and HD Dock. I don't want to have to remove it from the case every time I get in and out of my car or put my phone on to charge overnight. For the record I do have insurance though just in case.

Otterbox Commuter, had it on for weeks and still love it. Not big at all.

Ordered one the same day as my phone, it will actually be here before the phone.
On my Droid Charge, my Commuter saved me literally thousands of dollars.

Just got my droid and I'm torn on this issue. Part of me thinks smartphone protection is like the car bras that were popular in the eighties. Sure it might prevent some damage to your car saving some resale value. But your car looks like crap with it on and your "enjoyment" of the car is somewhat lessened.

With me phone resale value is not a factor, I usually stick with a phone for at least three years. I can live with the wear and tear a phone will take over the years and I'll like using it more naked. My main concern is my phone being put completely out of commission. I'm not sure how much help a case would be in a catastrophic accident like falling from my bike at 30 miles an hour or taking a dip in the ocean.

When I was phone shopping I was certain i was getting screen protecter and case. But now I'm 50/50. I am leaning towards insurance. Also I'm wondering about protecting the camera lens cover, interesting that none of the cases have a protective flap for the lens .

Thankfully, 3M now makes a clear bra for cars. I never thought those bras offered any protection anyways. Dirt was trapped underneath and paint faded unevenly. Not very helpful if you ask me. ;)

As for phone cases, I'm wish you. I tried a case myself but I decided against it. Naked is the way to go.

From years of having Nextel it made me inherently rough with phones. I go to my desk and flip the phone on it, I get home and toss the phone on the couch and bounces on the floor.

I hate cases, but they are a necessary evil for me. I like TPU cases as they are thin and keep the same lines of the phone. They are easy to take off and put back in quickly. The best brand that I have purchased time and time again is Diztronic off Amazon.

I was all about naked with a screen protector (less about the protection, I liked the slightly textured feel of the protector and it dampened the responsiveness of the touch screen to exactly what I wanted it to be) but after my phone get's back from repair :( I'm gently lowering it immediately into an Otterbox Commuter.

One thing I wish I found more of was a hard plastic flip-lid case. Something that can resist pressure and a bit of impact directly to the screen while the phone is in my pocket. I despise belt clips, so I'd like a pocket alternative.

For me, I have emotional problems with cases. If I buy a phone with no case, I start to fall in love with the way it feels and the thinness. When I finally decide to buy a case, I miss the old feel.
What I've learned now is that if I just buy the case right when I get the phone, I never have to worry about that problem. Love my otterbox defender!

SGP/Steinheil screen protector + Incipio NGP case = perfect protection, less fingerprints, and it remains thin and light.
