name of sender of text not showing on locked screen

Hi guys, I'm new to samsung as I previously had a iPhone 4s. The problem is that when I receive a text, the name of the sender does not show and it just comes up with "messaging". I previously had the preview activated which showed the senders name then but when I deactived this as I don't like the preview showing the name of the sender also stopped showing! Does anyone else have this problem and if so do you know a solution to this?

Do you have the contacts name listed in your phone?

Yeah they are all in my contacts. Their name comes up in "messages" but not on the notification on the locked screen. .. its driving me mad, ha

You have to go in messages hit the menu button and go down to where it says show preview of message and check that.

But I don't want a preview of the text showing on the locked screen. I had the option to turn this function off on the iPhone and it still showed the name.
