Nandroid Backup & rooting requirement

[Android Central Question]

Cannot find a definite answer anywhere i surfed,.
1.After flashing TWRP Custom Recovery,does one need to root the device first before creating Nandroid Backup or is the rooting condition only necessary when doing restore.
Hoping someone can answer.

If TWRP recovery for your device support Nandriod back up you wont require root , best to ask TWRP or XDA forums .
