native email on samsung galaxy s7 oreo vip notifications sound not working

[Android Central Question]

After the update to Oreo, the VIP notifications I had set to make a sound have stopped making a sound.
I have removed and re added the settings several times.
I read on other posts that Samsung hadn't fixed this. Is it still true that Samsung never fixed?
Is there a work around/fix?
