Hi All. I have an HTC One question. I have an HTC one and have been using the native mail app....but have one problem with it. It wont scale to fit. Is there a setting that im missing? the gmail app does this perfectly....but i have a hard time with using more then one account.

Can someone please help

Although I can't answer your question as I'm not a One owner, would you mind if I asked what the problem is you have with using Gmail with two accounts?

If otherwise it's doing the job you want it to, perhaps someone may be able to help with any difficulties you may be having. If you simply don't like it, then please ignore the question.

Any answer to my question is a good one. Im a newbie when it comes to android (used to be a fanboy...got bored). Im hearing this and that about the new gmail app...and havent used it yet, just keep hearing that its not good with using multiple accounts. Am i wrong with its newest version? if so ill use that. I know HTCs native mail is very pretty....but it wont scale to fit which for me is a big problem

Well it?s free to use so just try it and see how you get on ? nothing to lose!

There are plenty of other email clients out there which come well recommended, but the Gmail app does what I want it to without any problems using my two accounts so I have no inclination to look elsewhere. Is there anything you?ve heard/read particularly concerning you about it?

You can try Aqua, or K-9.
I also use Gmail with two Google accounts with no problems at all.

I also went into Google Mail online, and had Google go to my non Google email accounts and consolidate them into one of my Google accounts.

Some detail as to the exact issue would be helpful. What "won't scale" - the inbox itself when you open the app to view all your mail messages, or email that you open once in your inbox?

If the latter can't you just "pinch zoom" so that it re-sizes the message to fit your screen?

Once you open the mail....it wont scale to fit. The reg gmail app will....just wondering if there is a setting to do that. And a side note....i keep hearing about the new version of gmail that has new notification and multiple account features. Is that available on the HTC One?

I know what the OP means. The native email app doesn't scale to fit even with pinch to zoom It scales down so far but then stops, meaning that image heavy emails tend to need scrolling from left to right to read the entire email. Seems a bit of a poor design to be honest as other email apps handle this properly.

One way around it is to rotate the phone onto its side and the emails all scale to fit perfectly. Not ideal I know. The other solution is to use another app but I happen to really like the native email apps looks and functionality. A fix for this wild be great but I don't have the answer. Sorry.

Ok....let me switch questions. What e-mail app out there other then gmail (which i cant get an answer from anyone if it accepts multiple e-mail accounts)...would you suggest that does there following.
1. Has email notifications
2. Has fit to scale
3. accepts multiple email accounts

and again....thank you SO much for your help. Its forums like thais i think that make android users stand out among the fanboys

I am using three gmail accounts with the gmail app and have no issues. If you use an app that requires a login to your gmail account, you will be prompted to choose which gmail account this app will use.

1. Enhanced Email
2. Enhanced Email
3. Enhanced Email

Enhanced Email will accept multiple Exchange-Active Sync, gmail or whatever email accounts you throw at it. It also doesn't butcher the email formatting.

Okay, lets re-phrase your question.....

Do you mean multiple Gmail accounts, or multiple accounts with other email providers?

i have three gmails accounts.....no other providers. What i need is a mail app that will handle them all in one app, will scale them to fit the size of the screen. Does gmail do that? If so then thats what ill use...but it begs the question....why then do these phones have a native app and a gmail app? Ive asked this question to allot of people and have been told to use the gmail app for your main e-mail account you want push e-mail for and the others the mail app that you want to push in every 15 to 30 min. However....the HTC native app wont let me scale to fit, SO...can i just use the gmail app (sorry for being a tool....as im just going to test it and make my own decision) just thought id ask

Ok CarlosSpiceyW, this is my take on things (it may be wrong but here we go anyway):

The native email app is just HTC's idea of a nice email app that they can put in the phone that matches the look and feel of their version of the operating system. Its something they made to handle emails and look pretty. The Gmail app is the official Google app for handling email. Google gets this on your phone because they are the guys who made Android and so they can bundle in the Gmail app to tempt you to use that. It doesn't matter which app you use for your email. You can use one of those or ignore them both and go and download another email app from the Play store.

With that in mind, I would ignore what people have told you about which accounts to use and how often you want you're email downloaded etc. Go and setup the Gmail app up. It's really quick and easy to add three gmail accounts and try it out. If it does what you want then keep using it and if you hate it then delete your accounts and carry on using the Native email app until you find a better solution.

I can't stress enough how easy it is to just try it, and its free so you have nothing to lose except 5 minutes of your day.

Gmail app only works with Google accounts. Single or multiple accounts.
The Email app works with other email providers.

I have one last question and then im gonna stop....Lets say i go with gmail. I add three accounts. Is there a centralized all inbox in gmail that shows you all of the accounts in one inbox? If you have used gmail and know please let me know.

but....you are right. the sheer beauty of android is the ability to try, and if it doesnt work....try something else

You can use all 3 Gmail accounts at the same time.
It will scale the emails to fit the screen.
It pushes new mail to your device any time a new email arrives online.
No time schedule required , new email arrives online... It gets pushed to your phone.
