Navigation App missing after Google Maps Update

You are correct. The update removed Navigation app. Google map works, but there are no voice instructions in this version. - A major shortcoming.

What the...? There is most definitely voice instructions on Maps 7!

Turn by turn with voice navigation is definitely still working.

Transmitted through spacetime.

How do I return to old navigation with blue arrow icon? I have a droid razor.

Folks, you need to take the time to read through the posts. Instructions to remove the update are up there, but you also have to disable automatic updates to prevent further changes. And there's plenty of info on where to find the Navigation function, complete with turn-by-turn directions.

My biggest problem is that the update made it more difficult to get to the navigation. Normally not a big deal, but they failed to consider (in my opinion) how people use the app while driving. Extra screen presses and tiny buttons on a crowded screen make it tough, and less safe, while driving.

Perhaps it's time to close this thread to further comments.
It's obvious no one is reading the past comments... Or the answers.

I think it should closed too... people aren't even reading it... they just keep posting "OMG... MY NAVIGATION IS GONE!!! WAH WAH WAAAH!"

I dont understand why people are making a big deal out of navigation icon. Its not a separate app(before and now).
its just a shortcut to maps apps. if you open maps and click the split road on the search thats the navigation.

reverting back to old maps is the worst decision ever. NEW MAPS NOW SAVES BATTERY.
before maps drains battery even if you dont use it, now the battery usage is 0 unless you open and use it for navigation.

There certainly are. Same voice as before. They must have rehired her.

Thanks so much! The uninstall worked. I thought l'd accidentally removed it. Did the Google Maps update warn this would happen?

If AC closes this one, someone will just start a new thread......

There already are around a dozen or more of them. All the same stuff. "Nav is gone!", "No, it's not.", "You can uninstall the update!", "Or just learn how to use it, it's better if you take 5 seconds to figure it out", "Nav is gone!", "here's how to find everything!", "Thanks! Uninstall worked!"

This thread has been cleaned up yet again. Any more insulting posts will result in infractions. If you don't have anything helpful or constructive to say, please do not disrupt the thread.

It is there in the Maps app.... Read the comments posted in other pages of this thread and you will know how to pull it out.

My problem with the navigation now is finding an alternate route while already mid-route. For example:
1. I am parked outside my home and look up directions to my destination.
2. I pick one of the three route choices given and start driving.
3. Halfway to my destination, I decide (for whatever reason, be it traffic or just because) that I want to see if there are alternate routes from my current location to the same original destination.

At this point, in the previous version, all I had to do was press menu and tap the alternate routes button, and I am given 2 new choices from my current location.

In this new version, there is no convenient way to get alternate routes from the current location detailed above. The only way to do it now is:

1. Tap the "x" at the bottom left to cancel my navigation completely which brings me back to the 3 alternate routes (with my original start point).
2. Tap the "From, To" box at the top.
3. Tap the start point box.
4. Tap "My Location"
5. Choose one of the now updated alternate routes from my current location.

I use the navigation feature on my phone a lot, and I've tried this new version a lot, trying to find every little feature about it. But I have not found a convenient solution to my problem. If anyone could enlighten me, please do.
