Navigation full screen?

When in the car, I like to mount my phone, charging, and open up Navigation, then click the little map in the top-right to just see where I'm going with no "destination".

Is there a way to hide that gray bar at the top prompting me for a destination? I'd really like the full screen showing the map.

Just open Google maps instead of the Navigation

I'm not sure about that since I rarely use the navigation or maps since I always know where I'm going LOL. Next time I'm in the car I will check it out.

I basically want the view you get while navigating, without actually setting any destination, and without the top gray bar that asks for a destination, so that the map fills the entire screen.

I don't think you can get the same view as when your using navigation in the map mode.

i agree, just like a built in car navigation, it can continue tracking you and showing maps. pretty useful when you need to see whats around.
