First experience w/ Android, i'm using 2.3.5, this is, um, so bad. lol. Will be possibly going up to 4.2.x in a few weeks, is it much much much better?

Android has come a long way since then. Both visually and the framework. What device are you using?

Motorola Admiral for a week so far, as a temporary device

I went from a Droid X2 (same approximate generation of phones as the Admiral) to a Galaxy S4 and the difference is huge.

It is a night and day experience. Android 4.0 feels to me like a polished operating system.

Anything 4+ will yield better use ability/function over anything prior. As already mentioned, the Visual changes and everything else behind the scenes makes these devices awesome.

What are you making the jump to?

The moto x if Sprint ever puts it out.

To my mind they are world's apart. Most of the criticism I read about Android (laggy, etc) pretty much seems to come from people who have only used < 4.1. 4.1+ is on a whole other level in terms of responsiveness etc...
