Android Central Question
I'm looking for an application that can provide offline GPS mapping, just showing "you are here" on a background map. I know, even Giggle Maps can work offline now, but that's NOT ENOUGH.
I need an app that can be used in disaster areas (i.e. Panama City after hurricane Michael) when one person has been bright enough to pre-load their phone with "the" app and 'the' local maps, and then use either bluetooth or Wifi to transfer BOTH the maps and the app to other members of the party.
So, just having offline maps stashed inaccessibly (as Google does) doesn't help. Telling people to use Zello or a manual Wifi transfer and loading and all, NO GOOD.
I'm looking for a fairly zero-tech way to say "Hey, dummy, give me your phone I'll get you on the map again". And yes, it has to be that simple.
The downloaded map, AND the app, both need to work and transfer, phone to phone, with no cellular or other network support.
Any suggestions?
