Need good Bluetooth recommendations for Photon

Moved from a PalmPre- to a Photon last month. I am in need of a really great Bluetooth device. I bought what I thought would be a great one (Plantronics, highly rated) but it has proven dismally inadequate to hear through and painful to wear. I was hoping I could get some recommendations from others who may have hit upon something they really like.

My specific constraints are that it needs to have excellent wind and background noise concellation. I own an electrical construction company and am out on job sites frequently or in an open windowed vehichle. Wind is a real problem.

For the Pre- I was using a Motorola - I think it was the 520 and it was great for what it did. I could hear very well even with a cupped hand over it in an open Jeep on the road. It was a comfortable fit for my ear. The Plantronics had one of those small jelly pieces that went down a little far in the ear and by the end of the day I would be in pain from it.

I prefer an over ear clip if possible. I'd prefer a small onobtrusive device but if it had a longer boom mike it wouldn't be the end of the world. The most important factor for me is two fold: long term wearability and great sound in spite of background or noise.

I'd sure appreciate hearing back from others who have faced these same problems and use it with the Photon.

Thank you
Steven

You didn't say which Plantronics set you tried. I have the Plantronics Voyager Pro + and I really like it. Over the years, I've tried many bluetooth headsets and I've settled on this one. I've tried many brands over the years. Plantronics and Jawbone seem to be tops when it comes to noise cancellation. I tried real hard to like the Jawbone (I've had three models) but their style is over the top in my opinion.

The Voyager Pro + won out several months ago because it was comfortable, clear-sounding for me and those on the other end, has great noise cancellation qualities, and the battery lasts a LONG time. I did have some discomfort with the default earbud, but I switched to the smaller one and it has been fine. I can wear it all day with no problems. It is not a small device though, but that doesn't matter to me. It makes it easier to find when I lose it ;-).

The other features I bought it for is the ability to connect to more than one device (I have a personal and a work phone) and the ability to listen to music or radio (one side only, of course) via the headset (the A2DP capability). I can say, even with all of the others on the market, if I lost this one, I would buy another one without bothering to consider another.

I hope this helps. A headset is a personal decision and none are perfect for everyone. Good luck.

{more text added} I currently use this one with both the Photon and the iPhone. I had a Pre before (until 3 weeks ago) and used it with that too.

Although I seem to have misplaced it recently, I love my Jabra Extreme. It is very comfortable, lasts a long time, and I have never had anyone complain to me about poor audio quality on the other side of the call.

I would give a better review of its AD2P capabilities but as I said, I seem to have misplaced it and so I can't remember if it does AD2P or not...

I use the LG HBS700. Its a great bluetooth. Me opinion is that its the best sterio bluetooth made. It sits around your neck, under your shirt so unless you put the ear buds in, no one knows its there. Battery lasts 13 hour of music playback and a good week with moderate usage.
If you work out you will love it. It stays put and wont fall off.

I got mine from the Sprint corp store for around $70. Check it out.

I use the BlueAnt Q1 and am very satisfied with it. It has an over the ear clip; is very comfortable to wear - I wear it 10-12 hours each day; and has AD2P capabilities. It responds to voice commands and will also work with the phone's built-in voice command system. I have never had any problems with hearing people on it. Have used it with my Pre and now with the Photon - you can connect it to multiple phones which I have done while on vacation with my husband (had both of our phones connected at the same time with no problems). I know they have an updated version (Q2), but figured I'd wait to upgrade after this one gives out since it's been working fine for me.

I had the BlueAnt Q1, and now the Q2 and I really like them both. I work and coach (rowing) outside and drive a Dodge Cummins pick up. (Lots of low end rumble!) ...the BlueAnt does a very good job dealing with all the backround noise.

Blueant T1 is the best I have ever used. Voice commands, wind protection (I can use it in my convertible with the top down), and they have an android app that reads text messages to you.

I use a Plantronics Voyager Pro + as well, I have been real happy with this unit, I drive a tractor trailer, and they are not known for being quiet inside the cab, I get no complaints of back ground noise, I have been in my car with the windows down and didn't get any complaints.
I did try a Blue Ant T1 which is setup for Android and the sound quality on the other end was not good in my case anyway.

I used to have the original Plantronics Voyager Pro. Probably one of the best headsets I have ever owned. I broke the boom off one day (dropped it, stepped on it). Anyway, I now use the Bose bluetooth headset. It doesn't necessarily have all the features of some of the others, but it is by far the most comfortable headset I have ever used. Literally, you forget that it is there. Call quality has been great for me, no problems for people on the other end, either.

I have had the Jabra Extreme, BlueAnt Q2, several Motorola sets, but the Bose fits my ear the best. I wear it all day, from when I leave the house, to when I get home. A little pricey, but I got a decent deal online for it, so I am happy.

Jawbone Icon with Jabra eargels, I'm in construction too and the Icon has always worked well but after some research o bought the Jabra Eargels from Amazon and I don't use the hook. Hasn't fell off yet. Its small but clear on both ends.

If you need a hook i would suggest Aliph Q2, comfortable with hook but i had issues with the mic screen falling off on 2 of them.
