Need help changing my alternate pass code! but forgot original one!

How do you do that when my phone deleted the fingerprint icon? This happened while trying to use thumb print to turn phone on.the password not working, locked out of phone.

Same thing happened to me yesterday while trying to swipe my phone on to make a call. Poof. The thumb print gone and my alternative password won't work, Locked out! Verizon can't even log into my phone. So missing my iPhone right now!!!

Go to:
Settings
Fingerprint Scanner
Fingerprint Manager
Swipe down your Index finger (dont forget that's the finger you used to set it up with) I kept using my thumb
swipe it straight down the middle
Press and Hold Fingerprint 1 and you should see the trashcan icon, once you delete it you will need to re configure your fingerprint, but it will walk you through it, and then pick your password, it has to be at least 4 characters and have a letter in it, not just numbers keep it in mind when you re do it so you don't have to go through this all over again!!!
This worked for me on my Galaxy S5 for Sprint phone. Good Luck!! :)

I've been using the fingerprint scanner on the GS5 but sometimes I run into problems I tried to enter my alternate pass code (or at least what I thought it was) and it doesn't work, and in order for me to change it I need the original which I don't have. Is there any way to bypass this and create a new one?

Siramu is a genius! - Allows you to override any lock screen for whatever you forgot.

Google this address to replace a forgotten password: Android Device Manager. You must use your Google password to access that site. Then you can lock your phone with a brand new phone password and use that one in the future.

See excellent advice above about Android Device Manager. If this doesn't work, Samsung also has a mechanism to retrieve and reset (or lock) your phone (findmymobile.samsung.com) assuming you've registered it. I was able to retrieve my phone despite inability to access WiFi or settings or to use a fingerprint. Then you can revert to a pattern and pin if they are easier for you to remember. Then, of course WRITE IT ALL DOWN SOMEWHERE!

I had this same issue a couple of weeks ago while helping someone activate a SIM card for a tablet. Switching the SIM cards caused my phone to require Alt password and not allowing me to use fingerprint. I was unable to log in to phone to reset fingerprints or passwords. I couldn't get it to accept any passwords, Google Device Manager didn't work, Samsung Find My Mobile didn't work, and AVG Anti Theft didn't work. I had to do a factory reset. Sorry....
