need help deciding

So, my dilemma is:

I am a Verizon customer. I really want the G4. I currently have the S6. I cant decide how to get it, though.
1. I can trade in my s6 for the g4. My s6 is worth $385 per Verizon and that would mean I would end up paying about $150 out of pocket towards owning the g4. (Going by Verizon's pricing of $550 for the g4)

2. I can just add a line and pay $199 on a 2 year contract for the g4.

I am not sure if Best Buy can honor-
A. The Verizon price of $550.
B. If I can trade in my device and get the same trade in amount from Best Buy.

My preferred scenario is to go to Best Buy, trade in my s6, get price match for the price of the g4, get the $100 gift card and use it towards the purchase, and then get the battery and sd card from LG, which would mean paying $50 out of pocket Max, unless I decode to buy a case for the g4. But then I worry what if I hate the g4 and am stuck? And if I decide to do a 2 year contract and still have both phones, what if I decide during my 14 day period that I only want the LG? Do I return it to cancel the 2 year contract, then start the trading in process to get the LG?

Or would it be better to do everything through Verizon corporate store? And if I do everything through a corporate store, do I still qualify for the LG promotion?

Decisions, decisions....

Look at swappa.com to see how much the s6 variant that you have is going for there. It costs you $10 to sell it on their site plus you pay for shipping, but usually you can get a lot more than you can for trading it into the store. I use it all the time to upgrade phones more often than once every 2 years and have never had a bad experience.

Whatever you do, sell your phone locally! You'll make a lot more money. I've had very good luck selling devices on Craigslist

Your best bet is option one. Best Buy will not give you as much. You can sell it on Swappa but there are a lot listed and no telling when yours will sell. Bite the bullet and pay the 150 - you'll be glad you did.

And yes, you still get the free LG goodies. Just make sure you get a receipt.

I disagree, if you price it right on Swappa then it will sell. I always sell it for a few dollars less than the amount that the recent ones have sold it for and I make sure to take a lot of pictures and send it back with the original box and charger. I always sell it within a day.

But you have no guarantee when it will sell. That's my point.

Just popping in to +1 for the Swappa idea. As long as you price it a few dollars underneath (or at the very least, the same price) as the current lowest one listed (same specs), include lots of photos from all sides of the device, and are ready to ship anytime, it'll see very quickly. The longest I think I ever had to wait for something to sell on Swappa was 2 days for my original Pebble plastic watch, black color. Every phone I've sold on there sells the next day, if not the same day.

You can check the trade-in price on Best Buy's website, but you won't get very much. They will, however, price match Verizon.

I sold my S6 on swappa for $560 so 560 definitely better than 380.

BTW, I'm enjoying my G4

Big fan of Swappa as well, may seem like a hassle at first but once you are signed up it's a breeze.
Just be honest and prompt when shipping.

Swappa is great and only a flat 10 buck fee for selling. Badda bing.
Don't forget to count PayPal fees and Shipping costs when comparing to local sales.

Of course Swappa would give more than trade in, but there is also more risk.
