Need help testing nav button lights

I recently purchased a htc and I think I have an issue with the back button and recent apps button lights and looking for owners to do a simple test so here goes.

Set your navigation button lights to always on when screen is on. Next set screen brightness to manual. Next cover the top of phone where the light sensor is located with a piece of cloth/towel.

After a 10-15 seconds does the navigation lights stay bright or do they go dim/out.

I would appreciate as much help as possible.

Mine went dim along with the screen, after I uncovered the sensor, both the screen & button lights brightened back.

Is your screen brightnesss set to auto or manual?

Could you do a test with screen bightness on manual and button lights to always on and let me know results. Your help is greatly appreciated.
