Need help to Root Aria with Froyo 2.2

Hello All,
I have been searching and trying to root my Aria for almost 2 months now. It has froyo 2.2 on it. I managed to get S-off on it. I used unrevoked, got all the way to "running root" and then the message said, unable to get root, is your firmware too new?" Here are the specifics:
Alpharev:
liberty pvt ship s-off
hboot 6.02.1002

actualy, I had this problem too. but I think machine was already rooted, problem is that it will tell you that you can not install 3rd party app still. I think this is controlled by ATT setting in 2.2. so you can load 2.2 liberated 0r 2.3 3.0, there is another thread said you can install 3rd party app without rooting. I chose liberated because it give more space. good luck
