ok so my sister ( who is getting married this fall and this is relevant) is getting harrased on facebook by a fake person claiming to be a katie mckowen and claiming to be pretty much the same thing as my sister when it comes to job, school ( person put "same place where lara (my sister) went", and is saying that she is going to marry my sisters fiance on the exact date that my sister is getting married. the thing is tho that hardly anybody knows the date, no invites have been set out or is the place for the wedding yet reserved. this person is also copying pictures from profiles and posting them as their own. it is getting rather annoying and uncalled for. we did report the person but i am wondering if there is a way to find out who this person is either by tracking the ip address or some other way. we believe it to be a person on my sisters friend list and my wifes friend list who has access to their pictures but i wanna confirm who it is. figured the best place to ask for help or direction would be the android community cause let's face it we rock!!

any help would be appreciated

I'm sorry to hear that, you've done the right thing by reporting the individual to Facebook management. As for as legal steps to prevent this from keep happening - I don't think there is anything else you could do.

If this person has threatened the life of either you are your sister... then that would be a different thing. IP address isn't anything - the person could be using any device to make those post. (Example : prepaid phone, another person phone, or PC...plus several other un-traceable devices.

I hope this individual will wise up and stop this vexatious problem.

Best of luck.

Unfortunately, this happens with social networking.

Look first toward the fianc?'s friends and family, rather than your sister's and your wife's friends. Drop false info to him (pick a specific photographer, for instance) and only him then, see how long it takes to show up on the offending profile. If it doesn't then, provide a similar false nugget of info to someone else that would be on your suspect list. Then follow the breadcrumbs back.

thanks for the advice guys. We think we got it narrowed down to who it may be. Sad that somebody is trying to ruin my sisters day. Hopefully they stop soon
