well we need to know exactly what it says in the command prompt.

write up a play by play of what you did.

download the sdk from here: Android SDK | Android Developers
be sure to save it on the hard drive of your computer - click start>my computer> and then the hard drive itll start with C: ...

download the one click root method and save it on your hard drive in the tools folder of your android sdk folder - soooo =
click start>my computer>C: (your hard drive)> android sdk> tools - save it in here.

now it should be able to recognize adb. i think its because you did not download the android sdk correctly.

but on your next post copy and paste what it says in the command prompt.
it took me like 5 days to figure out exactly what i was doing when i was rooting

Word. If that does not work report back with what happened. Although you should have already done this, the directions are posted under the one click root thread

No luck..WTF....lol
adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file...
phone is not connected..

Im a noob but damn,im stumped..I did my evo first try....

can you explain exactly all the steps youre taking when trying to root?
example what you downloaded, etc

did you remember to turn on adb debugging? i think that may be your problem. menu button>settings>applications>development> adb debugging

Dloaded sumsung drivers,Followed what you said, put it on harddrive...Debugg is on..open up one click, click run.bat..??In device man it shows drivers r installed an working.....Dont understand why device not found??Also dont understand what "adb" is???Samsung mobile usb driver V1.3.800.0

I've heard people say to just reboot your phone or plug it into a different usb for device not recognized.

If it asks you to restart adb go into your task manager and clock on processes (the one with the most things running. One tab will have around 3 things running three other will have like 50) fine adb and kill process. Go back into your one click root and find adb file and clock on it, if its not in there go into the tools on android sdk folder.

Adb is android device bridging. Idk much about it. But I think its how your computer is able to control your device. Notice how when you root your phone restarts
