Need help with rooted phone

Hi i just rooted my phone with the steps on this website it seemed to work now what i need to know is how can i tell my Htc evo shift is Permanently rooted and what all can my phone do now that its rooted where can i find stuff to download for rooted phones

An easy way to tell if your phone is rooted, go into bootloader ( turn phone off, then hold power and volume down at the same time) if you see S-off in the top corner, your rooted!
