need help

My brother has a oneplus one and the microphone has recently just stoped working. He can have a phone call on loud speaker but thats it. Is this a problem with software or will he need to replace the microphone and if so were can he purchase 1 from as its a hard phone to track parts for... Thanks

It's most likely a hardware issue, unfortunately. When switching to speakerphone, many manufacturers use a different microphone for that purpose, which would explain why it works on Speakerphone and not on 'normal' calls.

He could try a call on Skype and/or Hangouts. If the microphone works there (not on speakerphone), then it's a software issue, but if it doesn't, it's likely the microphone is no longer working.

This is a new phone, I'm sure it's still under warranty...

Yes i think its a hardware issue aswell but i wasnt sure if this could of been a common issue with oneplus one phones.. He bought the phone of a selling website in his local area so not sure about warranty

He still gets warranty coverage by Oppo, it's just a matter a contacting them. He might have to ship the phone to another country if the phone is not sold 'officially' in his, though...

We live in england so he will have to ship it to else were. Ill try and get him the number to contact them and go from there. Its a shame really because its a brilliant phone i was going to get one but couldnt get a code so i got the lg g3 instead wich is also in the repair centre lol

Have you tried blowing out the slots with compressed air? Maybe some dust is lodged in it.
