need help

I was trying to put my fascinate back to 2.1 firmware, which I had done before, but forgot how to. So I used the Odin program I found on this guide:

Firmware Update - Samsung Captivate

It said captivate, but I thought that since they were both galaxy s devices, it would just do a reset-type thing, since the factory reset still had me on 2.2.1

It ran smoothly, and then I try to power my fascinate up, and the screen is stuck flashing At&t. :'(

I don't know what to do right now, the phone doesn't boot up, and my computer (running mac or windows) doesn't seem to recognize it at all.

So is this salvageable or am I out of a phone?

Odin DL09 and use the pit file here http://adbdev.com/danknub/atlas_v2.2.pit this in Pit

Put this in PDA http://adrynalyne.us/files/stuff/CI500_VZW_DL09_ECLAIR.tar.md5
Do that at the same time DL09 Eclair file in PDA and the pit file in pit and click re-partition as well its a box in options.


If this doesnt work do as atom said and wait for DX to come save you with heimdall. If you think you can do it yourself follow the heimdall instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026746

Ok so worries try To do what I said in Odin fist if still doesnt work than move on the heimdall. Ive never used heimdall but this shows you how to do it. Last resort DX is a great guy and if he comes around will most likely help you out of this pickle if you cant figure out heimdall. Let me know your progress. Oh and welcome to AC!! This is a great place!

the phone still doesn't show up on my computer at all. I can;t get it into that triangle mode either (vol. down then connect usb)

So I guess I'll try that other method

hmmm...sounds like you might have to use Heimdall

which version of odin are you using? i have heard of folks favoring the later versions (ie 1.83 over 1.3)

yes, don;t worry about it. I got some help from DroidXCon, but the phone won't boot into download mode so there wasn;t much he could do. So I'm going to make a usb jig sometime this afternoon and hopefully fix it.
